Parkland Art Gallery Spring Art Expedition

Parkland Art Gallery Spring Art Expedition: The Roger Brown Study Collection and Intuit Gallery
Roger Brown was recognized for his significant contributions to the history of Chicago art and to twentieth-century American art through his distinctive, original artistic vision and his works in many mediums.
Established in 1997, the Roger Brown Study Collection (RBSC) is an artists' study collection and archive, preserved intact in a historic house museum setting. Located in Roger Brown's former home, an 1888
storefront building, the RBSC is an intimate collection that includes works by Chicago imagists and other contemporary artists, self-taught artists, folk and tribal art from many cultures, and other things Brown surrounded himself with. After lunch, we will visit Intuit Gallery for a tour of The Treasure of Ulysses Davis exhibition. This retrospective features 109 pieces, including 78 from the King-Tisdell Cottage Foundation,
which acquired most of Davis's work after he died. Among the pieces owned by the King-Tisdell Cottage Foundation is a group regarded as Davis's masterwork: a series of 40 carved busts of all the U.S. presidents
through George H.W. Bush.
