The Coffeehouse Portrait Project

The Coffeehouse Portrait Project:
portrait sketches of staff and patrons of the Coffeehouse in Normal By Phil Smith

Drawings were done in charcoal and chalk on gray paper. Each person represented in the show came to the artist's studio and sat for about two hours while their portrait was drawn from direct observation.

Phil Smith is an instructor of Art Appreciation at Parkland College. His work will be on display February 12 through March 11 at the Coffeehouse, 114 E. Beaufort Street, in uptown Normal, Illinois.
An artist's reception will be held at the Coffeehouse Saturday, February 18 at 1:00 p.m.
